Time for Change
Our goal is to be an impactful youth movement led by members of the community. We are inspired by the belief that every day young people can shape and form a society where everyone can achieve their true potential.
Our Youth Movement
Founded in the UK in 1993 by 1100 young people, at the sharper end of life experiences and knowledge having been in state care in the UK, the Youth Parliament movement gained momentum throughout the world.
It was such a good idea that some organisations tried to monitise it for themselves in the name of 'empowerment of youth'. Empowerment means 'to give' and this is not children's 'rights'.
Yet despite that, the fundamental idea of youth parliament's began to be duplicated internationally, such was the concept envoked, and the demand for young people to be heard had now caught fire.
So, now we have many youth parliaments today in almost all countries. However, it is time we must demand to have a statutory budgets for that voice, by all governments, if they truly want to hear the children and young people, in an organised and monitised fashion.
It is not enough to say you have an organisation.
It is not enough to set up a website.
It is not enough to set up a twitter handle.
It is not enough to have elections with only a sample of the youth community.
You must be constituted and elected by a membership.
Youth parliaments need commitment from government to provide money so that they can set up free, fair and proportional elections where all babies, children and young people's voices count.
So, we are going back to the start and asking ourselves, why the very thing, that the original group advocated for, 'the parliamentary budget' was so painfully left out of the youth parliament movement equation so that only tokenism could ever occur.
Here we are with our new website www.youthparliament.world with the aim to be led by numerous, young, successful campaigners, who have or wish to produce real change, across their nations.
Through events, telethons, and online petitions organised by our dedicated members, we will work now together to hold leaders and decision-makers accountable for their actions when it comes to babies, children and young people, moving them to rethink what is possible and what is fundamenatally neccessary to protect a young generation going forward.
Youth Parliaments must be a collective voice with International views and opinions and rights going forward.
We work to ensure the community and local leaders have the knowledge from our members, the resources for our members and therefore the opportunities to make a real change in society. We see our campaigns as collective efforts and tools for connecting and building a stronger youth movement nationally and internationally.
www.youthparliament.world is building an environment of support and helpful resources to make sure that partnerships understand our priorities. We will be success driven by the hearts, minds, and souls of our community. Come and join us and become an adult advisor member by donating your free time/resources
Advocacy is an essential pillar of our youth movement. There is strength in numbers, and we work to inform and encourage others to take a stand for what they believe in. We want you to be in the memberhip, so that your voice is advocated for when and where it matters, so join today.
We Need Everyone
Organising an event
Every individual has the ability to motivate others and inspire true change. By organising an event, you become a crucial part of our movement by making sure that our mission is heard and has a far-reaching, lasting impact.
Our work is never done, and we can use all the help we can get. One of the ways you can take part is by volunteering. Spread the word about all that www.youthparliament.world is doing, and help us gain the support we need.
Planning a fundraiser
Active participation is an essential part of our movement’s success. Planning a Fundraiser is a great way to connect with your local community and spread the importance of our mission. With different campaigns to achieve a 'parliamentary budget, for youth parliaments by law', you can find something that personally inspires you and find ways to get the message to others through that fundraiser.
